"This is the best day of my life."

I want to tell you a short story from one of our recent deliveries.
We were on the last stop of a 5-hospital delivery tour with our friends from A.M. Woodland Outdoor Design.
And to close our big day of delivering new LEGO® kits to sick kids, we had the opportunity to load up a cart and go bedside to pass some kits out to the kids who were inpatient at Advocate Children's Hospital in Park Ridge.
As we pushed the cart down the hall and went to each room, we eventually made it to the last room on our list.
The patient was in isolation, so we couldn’t go in. But he came to the door when he heard what we had.
This little 8 or 9-year-old boy walked to the door in his hospital gown and his jaw dropped when he saw what we had in our cart.
He immediately started rummaging through all of the kits and even started jokingly pulling the cart into his room as if he was keeping all of them.
I was even rightfully accused of working for LEGO®.
While we all shared in a laugh, he then said something that stopped us in our tracks.
“This is the best day of my life.” He announced this while holding a new LEGO® kit above his head.
Just think about the perspective here.
He’s in a hospital.
He’s in isolation.
He’s battling an illness.
And he has the feeling of it being the best day of his life because of the simple gift of a new LEGO® set.
I share this story because this is the very real impact of your generosity.
Supporting this mission means creating moments like that for sick kids.
And in less than 4 years, donors and supporters have been creating over 25,000 moments like this.
